Day of Mindfulness at Deer Park Monastery

Are you interested in mindfulness and live in the Southern California area? Deer Park Monastery near Escondido, California offers a "Day of Mindfulness" for those interested in practicing mindfulness and learning more about it. Thich Nhat Hanh is one of the leading figures in spreading mindfulness practice around the world. He is a Vietnamese, Buddhist monk responsible for creating eight monasteries in places like France, Thailand, and the United States. Thankfully, one of these monasteries, Deer Park, is in Southern California!

The Day of Mindfulness is held mostly every Sunday from 9:00am-3:00pm. The day begins with a outdoor walking meditation and ends with a deep relaxation mindfulness meditation. A delicious vegetarian lunch is served with all of the other visitors alongside the monks. The first half of the lunch is kept in complete silence while you mindfully eat. The second half is time to finish your meal and converse with the other visitors at your table.

Deer Park Monastery is a beautiful, serene place. You can soak up the mindful, calming energy as soon as you enter the gates. Beginners as well as seasoned mindfulness practitioners are all welcome. The best part is that this day is completely free! Donations are absolutely welcome though. No registration is needed. Just check the website to ensure they are holding a "Day of Mindfulness" on the Sunday you would like to visit.

If you really enjoyed your Day of Mindfulness at the monastery, you can register for a weekend mindfulness retreat. Tents and cabins are set up for various retreats designed for groups.
